Celebrating National Logistics Day

· By Ernie Gunaseelan

National Logistics Day honors the professionals who keep global supply chains moving. First established in 2019 by Logistics Plus in Erie, Pennsylvania, the 5th Annual National Logistics Day recognizes how logistics underpins modern commerce and global supply chains.

The history of logistics stretches back to ancient trade routes like the Silk Road, through the voyages of European explorers such as Vasco da Gama and Christopher Columbus, and forward through the technological advances like steam engines that revolutionized shipping efficiency. Each era has built upon the last, creating the sophisticated global logistics networks we depend on today.

Three Ways to Celebrate National Logistics Day

There are several meaningful ways to recognize the day and the industry:

  1. Visit a seaport to observe cargo operations firsthand and gain an appreciation for the scale of global trade.
  2. Tour a local supermarket’s loading facilities to see how goods move from distribution centers to retail shelves.
  3. Read logistics industry news to understand the sector’s current challenges, including piracy and fuel price volatility.

Supporting Truckers Against Trafficking

A notable cause worth highlighting on National Logistics Day is Truckers Against Trafficking (TAT), an initiative combating human trafficking. Logistics professionals are often uniquely positioned to identify and report suspicious activity, and supporting TAT is a meaningful way to give back during the celebration.

StrataFlows and the Logistics Industry

StrataFlows is a low-code process automation platform helping logistics and manufacturing companies automate warehouse and material flow operations. By streamlining these processes, StrataFlows helps logistics professionals focus on what matters most—delivering goods efficiently, safely, and on time.
